Plot Summary:Filmmaker and gay activist Sridhar Rangayan embarks on a personal journey to expose the human rights violations faced by the LGBTQ community in India due to a draconian law Section 377 and homophobic social mores of a patriarchal society. The gritty documentary BREAKING FREE features searing testimonies of gay and transgender persons who have been victimized or exploited, as well as wide-ranging interviews with advocates and activists. See-sawing between despair and joy, anguish and hope, the film offers an insider view of the Indian LGBTQ community and is a documentation of its movement from invisibility to empowerment.

本来是因为想熟悉一下印度口音而看的这部影片，看完十分感动，彷佛自己也和LGBT群体一起经历了这场未完成的革命。从纪录片的制作角度来说，这部影片不算优秀，但是记录下印度LGBT群体取得的每一寸胜利真的很有意义。打破传统价值不会是和平的具有诗意的，而是有流血有牺牲有无数个勇敢站出来团结在一起挑战权威的人斗争而来的，他们是真的英雄。被时间的年轮记住的不该只是站在金字塔顶端的领导者，还有无数个没有姓名但是却为了自己的理想敢于牺牲自己生命的普通人。
