Plot Summary:This documentary captures the life story of legendary Hollywood producer and studio chief Robert Evans. The first actor to ever to run a film studio, Robert Evans' film career started in 1956, poolside at the Beverly Hills Hotel. His good looks, charm and overwhelming confidence captured the eye of screen legend Norma Shearer, who offered him a film role. After a glamorous--but short-lived--career as a movie star, Evans tried out producing. At the age of 34, with no producing credits to his name, he landed a job as chief of production at Paramount Pictures. Evans ran the studio from 1966-1974. During his tenure, he was responsible for such revolutionary films as The Godfather, Rosemary's Baby, Love Story, The Odd Couple, Harold and Maude and Chinatown. By the early '80s, the Golden Boy of Hollywood was losing his luster. After a failed marriage to Ali MacGraw, a cocaine bust and rumored involvement with the Cotton Club murder, he disappeared into near-obscurity. Only through tremendous will and uncanny luck did he once again rise as the kid who stays in the picture.

剪的挺好的,确实是传奇的一生。从商人&三流演员到一流制片人,吸毒丑闻又被打入谷底,最后又因为曾经扶持提携过的后辈感恩,让他过上体面的晚年。只是想起了科波拉在《教父》制作幕后里提到和他闹的不可开交,就觉得很多事真都是主观视角不同讲出来完全是两码事,但《教父》票房大卖两个人都获得成功,所以没掰。但后来两人合作《棉花俱乐部》票房结果不好,果然就撕上了法庭,这就是人性和故事。学习了。最打动我的不是他那个妻子出轨自己受伤寻花问柳的自怜婚姻故事,而是最后杰克尼克尔森为了帮他要回房子特意跑去向法国富商求情,裱在相框里“鲍比,回家吧,美人儿”的字条,还有人惦记曾经的恩情,太感人了,成为派拉蒙总裁也感谢他给予自己第一次机会,请他重回派拉蒙。那些经典影片和这两位真心人是他这辈子活的值得的最好证明
好莱坞八卦大多都是瞎编的,可有关Robert Evans的每条都是真的。这部纪录片好就好在没有试图还原或接近真实,而是完全采用传主本人的主观视角,以他夸夸其谈的自传有声版素材剪辑而成(好想用Woody Allen的Apropos of Nothing如法炮制一部)。在RE的自我叙述中,是他斥责科波拉把《教父》这样的史诗剪成了预告片,也是他为挽救《教父》常驻剪辑室,而疏远并失去了挚爱的妻子Ali MacGraw,堪比好莱坞的蒋筑英。但是可恶的科波拉在奥斯卡上感谢了所有人,唯独落了他。
与《玉女奇男》《摇尾狗》一起看,可以对好莱坞制片人中心制有个清晰认识。罗伯特埃文斯可以有勇气在波兰毛头小子波兰斯基只拍了早期几部作品的情况坚持让其执导《罗斯玛丽的婴儿》同样的在意大利裔新人导演科波拉只拍摄了几部不受好评的影片时就将拍摄《教父》的重任交给他,这得需要多大的远见性
制片人作为一个幕后工作者然鹅个人生活却比大多数演员还精彩,堪称把好莱坞戏剧般的故事演活了。纪录片大多以Evens豪华别墅作为背景(真的超爱他的房子!)几十年来起起伏伏,大起大落,唯一不变的是对电影热爱以及那股傲气。只是电影交待的太少,原本抱着八卦心态去看却落得空,还希望能提及到米歇尔菲佛呢
