Plot Summary:In 1938, Walter Neff, an experienced salesman of the Pacific All Risk Insurance Co., meets the seductive wife of one of his clients, Phyllis Dietrichson, and they have an affair. Phyllis proposes to kill her husband to receive the proceeds of an accident insurance policy and Walter devises a scheme to receive twice the amount based on a double indemnity clause. When Mr. Dietrichson is found dead on a train track, the police accept the determination of accidental death. However, the insurance analyst and Walter's best friend Barton Keyes does not buy the story and suspects that Phyllis has murdered her husband with the help of another man.

文戏依旧精美考究，“谋杀有忍冬的气味”，好像谋杀突然使保险推销员沃尔特的感官变得清晰，得到某种隐秘的快感。他的心中有一根一触即燃的火柴，渴望在危险的边缘擦出刺激的火花，于是他放弃了安稳的工作和信任的老友，选择迅速滑入突如其来的爱情和犯罪。电影的诡计不算复杂，但心理戏尤为出彩，不动声色地展现出案件中的几个人微妙的心理变化。爱情和犯罪的火花像火柴一样短暂，聪明反被聪明误，沃尔特只能在最后的叙述中为自己留下威风又虚弱的注解。菲利丝邪恶的眼神和冷静的姿态虽然很迷人，但和沃尔特的形象比还是有点像程式化的情趣，恶女最终也少不了被“惩戒”，人物塑造总体上还是丰富但传统的。
好悬疑片不怕剧透，剧本真不错。
