四星半！Alvin房间挂的Federick Douglass像要给好评啦！基本算是部无懈可击的默片了，在有声电影出现前能有这种质量的race film好了不起。Colored Players Film Corporation精品确实多（虽然大部分都是白人导的）既有精彩娱乐片Flying Ace，也有像Ten Nights这类cautionary tale，到Scar的深度已经开始反思种族内部精英阶层的僵化。镜头和剪辑水平相当高，没有废篇。lighting绝对是跻身坞内一流的【在colored cast/story的限制条件下呈现出如此惊人的成品，除了夸厉害之外不知道说啥了。
一个因爱生恨又难舍弃的爱情悲剧，本片刻画了一个矛盾多维度的“蛇蝎”美人。钢琴曲配乐很凄美，如果能找到原声带就好了。那时候的黑人片也有这种反映贫富差距的电影，那时候黑人的经济处境大概是比现在要好。
