Plot Summary:Wolfland is a poetic portrait of a multicultural neighborhood and a glimpse into a childhood lived between two cultures - but it is also a celebration of childhood as a universal period of time and a state of mind. It's a film about children, but what these children show us concerns adults and gives them an opportunity to reconnect with their own childhood. It is a film about the transition to adult life, about pushing boundaries, figuring out who you are and finding your place in the world. Today every major city has areas where the original population lives side by side with immigrants from a vast spectrum of countries and cultures. These neighborhoods, or ghettos, give rise to a lot of debate as they are both examples of harmonious co-existing but also violent clashes and social injustice. In Copenhagen, Denmark, the most infamous multicultural area is the camera-shy space around Blågårds Square. Over the course of three years Olivia Chamby-Rus has managed to get a unique access to the children and teenagers of the neighborhood and has sought to capture life from their perspective. As the daughter of Polish refugees, raised in Sweden and now living in Denmark, the director seeks to explore what it is like growing up with several cultures. With Wolfland she gives the children a voice of their own, without expecting them to be examples of good or bad integration. The aim is to make room for a different conversation about cultural differences.
