很钦佩保罗·纽曼的赛车热情，但电影并不怎么样。尽管赛车戏的伪纪录片手法大大增添了赛场的真实性。但情感戏则是完全苦逼的家庭情节剧，沉闷无比,情节拖沓充满惰性。台词功底也很差，可谓“赛场得意情场失意”。比起同时期的《霹雳神风》和《极速狂飙》，都要差好几个档次。
