Plot Summary:Kurt Anderson is the tyrannical manager of a New York department store in financial straits. He thinks nothing of firing an employee of more than 20 years or of toying with the affections of every woman he meets. One such victim is Madeline, a beautiful young woman in need of a job. 表演都有点过火都在拿演喜剧的腔调在演正剧，也因为如此电影有了些莫名其妙的幽默感，大萧条下为了活命糊口的各色人等众生相，这样的一个冷酷的总经理居然也没有让人觉得有多可恨多讨厌反而让人觉得挺真实而结尾处的一对和好如初的夫妻反而让人觉得不可信。。。
