Plot Summary:This travelogue tours Singapore beginning with the Chinese quarters where the contrast of the ancient and modern developments are strikingly apparent. Views of an elaborate Chinese funeral conducted in the traditional spirit of gaiety mixed with natives in the markets, pulling rickshaws among the various activities of the teeming life of this section. Then a survey of the innumerable temples of all descriptions that dot the city everywhere and on to see the famous Singapore Botanical Park, where the rubber industry of the world was born. Finally, the Hindu temples, and a lavish Hindu pageant on the outskirts of the city.
