不是我说，有点缝………
莱尔比埃在当时的滑铁卢之作，商业上的失败直接导致他之后的保守风格。但我只觉得棒呆，虽然故事平庸，尤其还请了对导演生涯有重要影响的歌唱家来演，但实在不是当演员的料——但不论是逐渐成熟的印象派技法，还是坚持电影的“a miscellany of modern art”理念，以此请大量艺术家合作创作的繁多现代装饰艺术，都让人称道。电影不只故事，也不应该以故事为价值判断的唯一标准，这部片子很好的证明了这点。 另外有趣的是，音乐会片段请的2000多名群演里大佬众多，包括毕加索雷曼等等；黄金国的小丑成了王子，舞女成了农女，而且莱尔比埃真的很喜欢卡特兰几乎每部都是主角
音乐和deco很难想已经是100年前的片子
除却拖沓和庸俗的情节，你可以在这部前卫的默片里找到未来主义、立体主义、抽象派、风格派、印象派等等大量现代主义元素的融合，还有苏式蒙太奇的使用，音乐也牛逼，有高度风格化的叙事性，现在来看，这是部相当纯粹的艺术电影，虽然比不上表现主义电影的高度，但绝不可忽视它的影史意义
全片都维持着对set和超一流剪辑手法流口水的目瞪口呆痴呆状，故事讲了啥反而不是重点了，当然里面racial奇观化的部分还是挺多挺offensive的【【但从电影研究的方面来说，确实值得四星
