Plot Summary:After a stint in a psychiatric facility Jessica, her husband and a friend move to remote farm they have recently purchased. There they find a young woman by the name of Emily living in the house and they invite her to stay. When Jessica goes for a swim in the lake, she sees a body just below the water's surface. When they go into the village to sell some old furniture, they learn that a woman by the name of Abigail Bishop drowned in the lake and her body was never found. Local folklore has that Abigail is now a vampire roaming the countryside. A mute blond girl leads her to the body of a dead man but the body is not there when Jessica goes for help. Jessica and those around begin to wonder if she is losing her mind.

披着恐怖片外衣的文艺片，风景美（梦幻用光有点像库布里克的《巴里·林登》）、音乐美（有点像Nick Drake的迷幻民谣），嬉皮士共产主义公社一般的生活，唯有人心的疏离是影片的暗色。
和预想中的非常不同，通过近乎耳语的内心自白与节奏怪异的电子乐来营造分裂与诡异的效果，扭曲角度呈现的几处小镇居民面部特写与萦绕湖区的女性浮尸，有一种梦幻且冷峻的特质。整体风格特别像同时期的《症状》，既往心理创伤与面对第三方闯入访客来势汹汹的情感侵入，环境渲染的诗意氛围与七十年代同期恐怖片大为不同。
