作为传记片真实度并不高，由于各方面的原因做了很多模糊化处理，Flynn出演本片时与巴里摩尔晚年的处境高度相似，尽管他没有模仿巴里摩尔的种种习惯，但是演得十分动人，Dorothy Malone眼睛挺有戏的，不过总觉得演得有点刻意，开头的少女部分尤为尴尬。电影结尾十分乐观，然而现实却是彻头彻尾的悲剧。
